Hiroshima – Still there

The feeling is that in Hiroshima the spirits of the victims are still there.

They are still there, waiting for us, to accompany us during the visit, praying that we understand.

The feeling is that the city is still burning in ashes, even if it was rebuilt and its scars are covered.

The feeling is the  river is still filled with the corpses of the people trying to escape the flames.

I don’t think we can really understand what happened there.

No matter how hard we try.

What happened in Hiroshima and Nagasaki cannot be understood.

It’s unlike any other war, any other bomb, any other war crime or crime against humanity.

The sorrow, the pain was such that I believe it affected the whole universe.

It cannot simply be gone without any trace.

I don’t believe it.

All that sorrow, all that evil is still stored there.

They are still there.

Not like ghosts, more like sad angels.

We think we go there to pray for the victims, but it is actually the other way round.

It’s them praying for us.

It’s them that went through that evil, that know what it is, that have experienced that in their bodies, minds and souls.

They are waiting for us and pray we understand so that not more human being has to go through it again.

They are still there.
